Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

The Yorkshire Coast has some amazing seaside resorts and beaches that you can enjoy all year round. Running from the Tees estuary to the Humber estuary, you will be spoilt for choice for amazing places to visit but here are some of our favourites:

Saltburn-by-the-Sea, commonly referred to as Saltburn, is a delightful coastal town famous for being the only place remaining in Yorkshire with a pier.

Staithes – this historic fishing village clings to the hillside and lies in the North York Moors National Park. With cobbled streets, it is a fantastic place to hunt for fossils or do some rock pooling.

Whitby is a seaside town at the mouth of the Esk River with a rich maritime history. Famous for Captain Cook, Whitby Abbey, Dracula and fish and chips, it is also known for the Whitby Goth weekends that are an amazing spectacle.

Robin Hood’s Bay – just south of Whitby, this picturesque village has a very steep cobbled street that leads down to a rocky beach. The village is a fantastic base to explore the North York Moors with hiking trails aplenty.

Scarborough – a very traditional seaside town with lovely beaches, arcades and lots of visitor attractions, Scarborough sits within a designated heritage coast area. Its 2 bays are split be a headland bearing the imposing Scarborough Castle.

Filey is located between Scarborough and Bridlington and is a little quieter than some of the other coastal resorts. The former fishing village has an historic promenade and an awe inspiring 5-mile sandy bay.

Bridlington sits on the Holderness part of the Yorkshire Coast with miles of dramatic coastline and a stunning RSPB Reserve just to the north at Bempton Cliffs. The town itself has a magnificent harbour and really comes alive in the Summer when the tourists visit in large numbers.
