Panicking about how to keep the kids entertained this half term? Don’t worry here at Go Yorkshire we have compiled a list of 10 things to do this half term in Yorkshire that will keep them enthralled and more importantly, you sane…

1. Have a Shark encounter at Scarborough Sea Life Centre

If your little ones are fascinated by animals and the natural world the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough should be no 1. on your list. Visit the brand new ‘Shark Encounter’ exhibit from Feb 12th, 2016 which allows you get closer than ever before in their fully refurbished underwater tunnels.

2. Try out mini quad biking at Thornton Hall Farm

An award-winning country farm where the kids can meet face to face with all their favourite farmyard animals, try out junior quad biking and even try your hands at egg collecting. Situated on the edge of Skipton it’s easily accessible from Leeds if you want to get out into the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

3. Rob a bank at Eureka!

Walk through a child-sized village, crack codes, and let them try their hand at robbing a bank (yes, really).  Designed for learning through play, Eureka is a place where your little ones can get inspired and keep their minds active this half term, book in now or you might miss out!

4. Explore Ingleborough Cave

If your kids are a little older and up for an adventure, then you might want to consider jumping in the car and heading to North Yorkshire’s Ingleborough Cave in Clapham? Tours of the cave leave from the entrance regularly and an expert will guide you through well-lit paths exploring the science behind this natural wonder.

5. Get to know Captain Cook in Whitby

Are your little ones still into pirates? If they’re still obsessed with eye patches and ships then we say arrr, head to Whitby me hearties! Treat them to fish and chips, walk along the beach, and then make your way to the museum and learn about the real history behind the legend of Captain Cook!

6. Ride the rollercoasters at Lightwater Valley

If they’ve been particularly good so far this year you could always reward them with a sneaky trip to Lightwater Valley in Ripon? Get scared on the wild rides, visit the Falconry Centre and play their real-life angry birds game - the kids will have a day to remember and you can bask in the glory of being a parenting hero for the day.

7. Discover more about Steel at The Magna Centre

Are there some budding scientists at home? Fire up their ambition and imagination at Magna Science Centre and learn together about the history of Steel, the science of air, water and the earth. It’s easy to find and utterly enthralling!

8. Try out the adventure trail at Filey Bird Garden

This family-owned park has been running since 2008 and features a wealth of amazing exhibits and activities to get your kids back in touch with nature. Try out the adventure trail and see how quickly they can get to the top of the fort! Find out more here.

9. Feed their fascination at The Thackray Medical Museum

Is there a little doctor growing up in your brood? Discover how your bodies work and the major medical breakthroughs that have made modern life possible at Thackray Medical Museum. Easily accessible by public transport it’s a fascinating introduction to biology for all ages.

10. Ride a mini Diggers at Diggerland

And last but certainly not least, we know that there are always kids out there obsessed with diggers, right? Take them to Diggerland to ride mini diggers, dumper trucks, go karts and a roller coaster.
