Half Term Fun

Written by: Elmtree Press

Half term is nearly upon us and a bit of forward planning is always useful in making sure that your little monkeys have a great time.

We have compiled a few suggestions to make the most of the week whether it is fabulous weather or quite the opposite!

A trip to the seaside is always a must.  If the donkeys have their umbrellas up, dodge the raindrops and visit John Bull’s World of Rock in Bridlington.  You won’t meet up with Def Leppard because it isn’t that kind of rock!  The diet might go “up the swannee” too, as the secrets of rock and chocolate production unfold before your very eyes!  You have to visit their  shop which  sells a wide range of gifts and treats. What better way to cheer yourself up on a dismal day.

Hull is home to The Deep, the award winning aquarium with a fantastic offer on return visits.  From the Lagoon of Light with a breath taking underwater reef and tropical lagoon, right through to the antics of the newly established colony of Gentoo penguins, it really is a great family day out – there are sharks too!

If you are planning a trip further up the coast why not trace the amazing voyages of Captain Cook at the Captain Cook Museum, Whitby, in the trusty Whitby built collier, The Endeavour. His voyages of discovery spanned the Globe and laid the foundations for much of our present day knowledge.  Whitby is also home to a myriad of interesting shops, many selling example of Whitby Jet.  Visit Natural Wonders which stocks jet and fossils and can also offer fossil hunting excursions.

Come rain or shine, you and your children will have a great time at Playdale Farm. Situated near Scarborough on the Yorkshire Coast on the outskirts of the village of Cayton, the farm is packed with things to do to entertain your children whatever the weather. The huge indoor play area includes ball pool, tractor zone, adventure trail and much more! The Animal Barn and Interactive Paddocks are designed so the children can see animals in a natural farm environment. Come and get to know all the animals up close and join in with feeding. You could even make a new friend!

North Bay Railway is always a great family day out. It is  one of the most historic seaside miniature railway in the United Kingdom, offering a wide range of attractions including the Glass House Café, Sky TrailBoating Lake and Historic Water Chute.

Where ever you decide to go and whatever you do we hope you have a great time!
