Celebrate everything Yorkshire on 1st August which is officially Yorkshire Day! There's lots going on to celebrate so here are just a few ideas - but remember you don't just have to celebrate on just the one day, Yorkshire is great all year round!

Selby Food Festival - There are over 30 stalls to visit with a huge variety of products including: burgers with exotic meats, venison, artisan pork pies, savoury pies and pastries, award-winning handmade fudge and other fantastic sweets, preserves, a wide range of fine berry liqueurs and real Yorkshire ales and craft beers. Plus there will be tastings, cookery demonstrations, street entertainment and family fun!

Superhero Weekend at Stockeld Park - Come dressed in your own ‘super’ hero outfit, take part in the ‘hero’ catwalk and tell them what your hero powers are. Prizes for all those who take part and a Goodie bag for the most ‘creative’ hero. £1.00 off Day Passes to all Heroes who come in full Fancy dress. (costume must cover at least 50% of your body!)

Sewerby Hall and Gardens is planning a spectacular celebration of all things Yorkshire. Supported throughout the day by Michael Wood, the Town Crier for East Riding of Yorkshire with his a ‘Loudest Town Crier' competition. Activities also include Steam Punk and Makara Morris Dancing, Yorkshire Recipes: Cooking in the Kitchen and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will be on site too.

If visiting Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal follow your nose to find succulent sausages, beefy burgers and a tasty vegetarian option too, all cooked fresh on the pop up BBQ. The pop up BBQ will be in the garden at Studley tearoom (weather dependant), on the lawn at the Visitor Centre or just beside Abbey tearoom.

This is just the tip of the iceberg though - there is something for everyone in Yorkshire so check out what's on or what to do for even more inspiration. Happy Yorkshire Day everyone!
