York’s Chocolate Story will be welcoming a very special guest this Christmas. Father Christmas and his friends will be settling in to their cozy traditional wooden grotto from 19th November – 24th December to welcome the children of York and to check who has been naughty or nice (probably twice)!
The jolly man himself will be ready to hear Christmas wishes, hand out treats and shake his belly like a bowl full of jelly. Children visiting the Dickensian-style grotto, which will be located in historic Kings Square in the centre of York, will also have the opportunity to post their letter to the North Pole and have a special festive photograph to take home as a keepsake.
Move through the ages to the birth of the Rowntree’s Christmas Club through to modern day York, where enough Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are still produced to fill one in every ten Christmas stockings.
Finish your tour by making your very own chocolate creation before watching our master chocolatiers at work producing fresh handmade chocolates. They might even let you do a taste test!
The whole attraction will be decorated throughout to give an extra special festive feel. Warm yourself in our café with an indulgent hot chocolate and mince pie. Put a dent in your Christmas shopping in our shop, stocked with quirky gadgets, unique sweet treats and gifts for every chocolate lover.
