SEA LIFE Scarborough - Know Before You Go

SEA LIFE Scarborough has recently been awarded the VisitEngland ‘Good to Go’ industry charter mark so it was great to be able to visit here at the weekend along as part of the Go Yorkshire team. All safety processes you would want to see are clearly evident so that just left having fun for the agenda.

Parking – Located on the North Bay in Scarborough, there is a large on-site car park (pay and display) or you may be lucky enough to find parking on the approaching Scalby Mills Road.

Arrival Procedure – all tickets are timed entry and pre-booking online is essential. It is then a simple of case of entering the SEA LIFE main entrance and presenting tickets/booking at the reception.

Visitor Experience  SEA LIFE Scarborough has always offered a plethora of opportunities to get up close and personal with a variety of creatures. This visit was no different and some of the amazing creatures deserve a special mention.  The Humboldt penguins on Penguin island is a fantastic walkthrough experience in which you get so close to these beautiful animals. The children were also captivated by the Ocean Tunnel that allows you to be ‘at one’ with Blacktip Reef Sharks and a Loggerhead Turtle.  There is also an astounding Rainforest area in which you come face to face (behind the glass naturally) with Green Tree Pythons and poisonous Arrow Dart Frogs.

Food and Drink – The upstairs restaurant sells a wide range of food with the rainbow coloured slushies going down particularly well with my mini ‘Go Yorkshire’ associates.

Safety measures – SEA LIFE has always had a one-way system in place so the transition to the new safety procedures has been seamless.  Social distancing signage is clear with certain areas only allowing one family party in the room at one time.

Do you have to wear a Face Covering? – Yes - guests over the age of 11 are required to wear a face covering indoors in line with government guidelines/medical exemptions.

Our Verdict – SEA LIFE allows visitors to experience the ocean’s hidden marvels, and the expert and knowledgeable staff are passionate about conservation. The safety procedures put in place are excellent and Go Yorkshire is happy to endorse with our seal of approval.
