With the strawberry season in full swing where better to have a family day out, which will keep the whole family entertained, than a trip to Cedar Barn, owned by husband and wife, Karl and Mandy Avison. Cedar Barn has been a favourite place to stop and shop for over 10 years now supplying delicious Yorkshire produce. They have their own butchery, local home grown vegetables, fresh fish is delivered daily from nearby Scarborough and of course an abundance of delicious home grown fruit that you can either pick yourself or buy from the shop.
The café is a popular stop for those en-route to Scarborough and well patronised by locals, which is always a good sign and their chefs take full advantage of the delicious locally sourced produce to create wonderful lunches and teas.
It is one of Elmtree Press’s favourite stops for buying a sandwich when out delivering our Go Yorkshire guides and we can’t resist buying one of their delicious home cakes or punnet of fruit either.
There is plenty to entertain the children as well, with an excellent playground and new for this year ‘The Flying Yorkshireman’ a miniature train which we are sure not just the little ones will enjoy.
Combined with picking your own fruit, enjoying a vintage tea in the café and stocking up with supplies in the shop, the Cedar Barn is a great day out.
