For those braver souls, there are lots of spooktactular events to choose from.
Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway have lots happening! During the daytime, trains will run with decorations and excitement. A witch hunt is set up around the Railway for you to take part in. On the Saturday night a separate TERRIFYING event will be held with genuine scares and surprises for all. In the dark of the night... a special train will run from Bolton Abbey station at 19:00. Tickets must be bought in advance. Entertainment and decorations will abound along the line, and several 'things' are known to be waiting, biding their time... Are you brave enough to visit? Dalby Forest has a spooky walk through the woods to enjoy this Halloween with Dalby Forest’s Fear in the Forest event.
Get up close and personal with captive bats, have a go at some ‘Creepy Crafts’ or grab a bite to eat in the Dalby Café. Fancy Dress is optional and there will be prizes for the best. Guided walks start at 5.30pm with the last walk at 8pm, each lasting about 40 minutes. The walks are suitable for children 5+ but not suitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs. Where better to spend Spooky Halloween than at the iconic Whitby Abbey. This Hallowe'en half term join them for frighteningly fun activities with their Victorian Undertaker. Wrap up warm and take a wander around the atmospheric abbey that inspired Bram Stoker's gothic story, Dracula. The perfect setting to mark the ghoulish holidays and to blow off some cobwebs before school begins again!
Thornton Hall Farm Park has lots of Spooky activities this Halloween - come along if you dare! Scary mazes, pumpkin carving, freaky face painting. There’s a gathering of ghosts, ghouls and other grisly spirits descending on Eureka! this Halloween from 22 to 31 October 2016, but don’t be too scared to visit as there will be a GhostBuster on hand too!
From Monday 24 to Friday 28 October Eureka! will be opening an hour early so visitors can really get into the spirit of Halloween from 9am right through to 5pm.
