Laid out across three tiers, Gold Square feels spacious even at peak times. With views across the farm, forest and moorlands, this spot, just on the south-east corner of the moors, feels idyllic. There's plenty for families with sports and recreation facilities right on site. 7. Waterfront Country Park - West Stockwith, Doncaster

Waterfront Country Park is a touring caravan site situated in an attractive setting with five acres of flat, level grassland, and close to the beautiful West Stockwith Marina, where the Chesterfield Canal joins the River Trent. The location is a haven of peace and tranquillity, with onsite activities mirroring this, including narrow boat hire and fishing.

8. Westerly Lake - York

Westerly lake is one for the anglers among us. While the site might not boast water slides, crazy golf or climbing walls, it is a little slice of fishing heaven. The park sits around a beautiful lake stocked with roach, bream, tench, gudgeon, crucean carp, perch, and chub to over six pounds… to name but a few. The Park only holds 20 pitches and does not accept visitors under 16 years of age, making this a perfect intimate getaway for couples, groups of friends or those over a certain age. The nearby village is easily accessible, hosting a supermarket and pub, with York only 7 miles away. The site owners live onsite so are always on hand to offer advice, for a friendly chat, or to help make your stay that little bit more enjoyable.

9.  Nostell Priory Holiday Park - Wakefield

Nostell Priory Holiday park is all about community. It offers both a static caravan park and space for touring vehicles. Bookings can be made for a one off holiday or up to a whole season, meaning you really do get the know the ‘neighbours’. Not only this but in recent years a group of caravan owners set up a bowling league and created an onsite bowling green. There are also plenty of nearby attractions to explore, including The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, White Rose Shopping Centre, Newmillerdam Boathouse and Hepworth Art Gallery. You won’t get caught out looking for things to do here.

Set in gorgeous North Yorkshire countryside, the wooded site boasts plenty of natural wildlife.
