There’s so much going on this June in Yorkshire, and as you know by now, us Yorkshire folk certainly know how to have a good time. Here we have created a list of just some of the great things to do this month in Yorkshire from fun filled family days out to music festivals and more.
RHS Harlow Carr have an action-packed June with more than enough to keep you going. Make the most of the May half term (28 May - 5 June) and explore the woodland with a woodland trail, outdoor workshops including slingshot making.
There’s the Harlow Carr Flower Show (10 - 12 June) where you can browse, buy, and pick up advice from more than 30 specialist nurseries and garden trade stands and enjoy a full programme of talks and demonstrations.

Sheffield Doc/Fest will be taking place on 10 - 15 June celebrating the finest world leading and the UK’s premier documentaries in all forms from feature length to shorts and includes interactive and virtual reality projects.
Returning for its third year, is the Pontefract Cycling Festival (12 June). Bigger and better than ever with even more attractions to suit the whole family - fun fair, cycle jumble, food stalls, bouncy castles and face painting. It’s sure to be a great family day out.
Over at Ripley Castle, there’s the Summer Homes and Garden Fair (9 - 12 June) where there’ll be a luxury marquee featuring 160 top quality interiors, gift, outdoor and fashion companies all wonderfully unique to Yorkshire, that you won’t find anywhere on the high street. You’ll also find a food hall, champagne bar and first-class restaurant on hand in case all that shopping becomes slightly overwhelming.
In the mood for some laughs at the theatre? Well, over at the YMCA Theatre in Scarborough a comedy musical adaptation of Cinderella and Friends is showing on 10 & 11 June and you can see Peter Pan flying around stage in the production of Neverland on 25 & 26 June.
If you want to hear great local Yorkshire bands playing funky laid back pop for all the family then check out the Tiny Time Music Gigs at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough (25 June). For other great plays, films workshops and more, check out the SJT website.
The annual the Barn that Rocks in the lovely town town of Bedale, at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, is back on Saturday 4 June. This two day event consists of four live music acts providing six hours of FANTASTIC entertainment. Fish and chip van, BBQ, Bar and a gold and diamond necklace (donated by Silverdale Jewellers) prize to be won!
For all you plant lovers, there’s the Spring Plant Fair at Scampston (Sunday 19 June) where you will find stallholders from award-winning nurseries and local enthusiasts selling unusual plants and offering oodles of advice.
Try your hand at archery at Bolsover castle where they have their special event Take Aim for Father’s Day (Saturday 18 June). You’ll become archers for the day and hone your skills for the battleground and impress fair maidens.
If you’re in the mood for some music this June, then check out Guy Garvey, who will be performing from his highly acclaimed solo album ‘Courting The Squall’, at the unique forest setting that is Dalby Forest (Friday 24 June).
