Written by: Elmtree Press

For those with families, Christmas is a very expensive time of the year, especially those families with small children the build up to Christmas starts even earlier with the traditional visit to meet Father Christmas. But where in Yorkshire is Santa to be found this year and where will your child have the best experience in meeting this genial old gentleman! The Heritage Railways always give great value for money and Yorkshire boast the greatest concentration of preserved railways in England. Here are the ones we recommend that give great presents and value for money. But be warned tickets are on sale now and are selling fast!
Kirklees Light Railway run Santa trains from the 1st December - 24th December 2017. Twilight trains run every Friday evening in December. Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway have only limited space left on their Santa trains. We suspect this is because they give such excellent presents and value for money.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway Santa trains depart from Pickering Station: 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 19 & 20 December 2017. Join Santa and his special helpers on a magical adventure aboard the Santa Express, which will take you on a festive journey you won’t forget!
Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Butchery, Award Winning Cafe & Santa Express opened their new miniature railway this year which has been very successful. Whilst picking up some Christmas shopping or ordering your turkey, your children can hop on board the Santa Express to the Cedar Barn Grotto to visit Santa and pick up some goodies from the shop a the same time. £8.50 (per Child) From 9th December - 22nd December 201 7(Booking Line Manned 10 - 12 noon Monday - Friday )
