Yorkshire Shows

Summer is the season for agricultural shows in Yorkshire, and this weekend kicks off with the North Yorkshire County Show and Stokesley Show.

Stokesley Show Ground is this Saturday 16th  June.  One of the highlights of the Stokesley Show, is a display being organised by the local Rotary Club of  of beautiful  vintage cars called ‘Classics on Show’ the star exhibit being the famous blue 1934 Classic Austin 7 car, driven by the actor Christopher Timothy, in the hugely popular TV series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’, based on the books and memoirs written by Alf Wight, using his pen name, James Herriot.

The North Yorkshire County Show on 17th June, at Camp Hill offers lots to see and do there. There will be many exciting displays and demonstrations at the Show, plus a whole range of Main Ring Attractions, Classic Cars and Motorcycles, A Fun Dog Show, Cattle, Sheep and Poultry, Rabbits,  Hamsters and Ferrets, Bungee Trampolines, Country Pursuits, Carriage Driving, Horticulture and Produce, Arts, Crafts, Photography, and the Yorkshire Country Women's Association & Children's Classes.

The 160th Great Yorkshire Show is on the 11th July at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate. Highlights this year include equestrian dynamo Lorenzo who will return with his daredevil display.  Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal will be  a special guest on Wednesday 11th July

There are lots of live demonstrations. Our favourites are Cookery Theatre demonstrations and the sheep display next to the Black Sheep stand, where you will find the Go Yorkshire team handing out the Go Yorkshire guide packed with lots of great money off vouchers.

So, make sure that you visit at least one show this summer, soak up the atmosphere, meet local people with common interests and enjoy one of Yorkshire’s finest traditions.
