Visit the wonderful ruins of Bolton Abbey, in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, near Skipton. At the heart of Bolton Abbey Estate lies the Priory Church and Ruins of an Augustinian Priory in its beautiful riverside setting. Perfect for a family day out in Yorkshire or a walking lovers dream along the River Wharfe where you can see the Strid.
Be sure not to miss the Strid, a natural wonder, where the river suddenly narrows forcing the water through at great pressure. The Strid was formed by the wearing of softer rock by the circular motion of small stones in hollows. The 60 stepping stones offer a fun and challenging experience for today’s visitor.
For those who do not wish to cross via the stepping stones there is a bridge offering a safe and dry passage. Bolton Abbey is described as “one of the finest wildlife habitats for miles around, the array of species that can be seen and enjoyed is magnificent.” Lucky visitors might spot the otters playing in the River Wharfe, the green woodpecker on the east bank or the buzzard soaring over the moors. At ground level there is a plethora of wild flowers and fungi to be enjoyed.
If you are visiting in Spring, a walk through Strid Wood is a must so as not to miss the carpet of bluebells and the pungent aroma of wild garlic. In the summer, yarrow and yellow pimpernel can be found. The rich vibrant colours of autumn adorn Strid Wood, beneath the canopy fly agaric, death cap and stinkhorn appear.
After receiving a prompt response and speaking with him I was excited about the potential of having him complete some handyman projects for us and a room division. He was insistent on needing my home address to get an idea if he would be able to make an appointment and provide a quote though I had provided my general area.
I have never used his services personally. Rather, I have recommended him to dozens of my own customers. In my follow-up with referred customers, I have heard so many positive reviews and felt so much satisfaction
