The lovely quaint village of Thornton-le-Dale offers a good range of amenities with eating establishments and independent shops for stocking up on provisions (including a butchers, pharmacy, bakery and post office) all within a short walk from the cottage.
The wonderful market town of Pickering is just a stones throw away and from here you can take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway all the way to Whitby - a leisurely way to explore the area whilst sitting back and enjoying the spectacular ‘Heartbeat' scenery.
There's plenty of local activities and places to visit too. Dalby Forest is on the doorstep providing excellent opportunities for those who enjoy outdoor activities. Here you'll find endless tracks and trails for walkers and cyclists and for those seeking adrenaline, ‘Go Ape' with its high-wire tree top adventures provides an exciting day out.
