Join local artist Merlyn from The Littlest Falcon to spend a creative day learning the art of single-colour linoprinted Christmas cards in this relaxed, hands-on three-hour session, perfect for beginners.
What to Expect:
Bring along a simple idea for your Christmas card design. We’ll be working on lino blocks around 4x5.5” so keep that size in mind when planning. Don’t worry about having it perfect before you arrive – there will be time to adjust, and Merlyn will be there to help with any advice.
You’ll learn various mark-making techniques and how to transfer your design onto your lino block. Once carved, you’ll be able to test print your block and make any adjustments before printing your final design.
We’ll be printing by hand burnishing - a simple method you can easily replicate at home.
Materials:
- We’ll work with lino blocks approximately 4x5.5” in size, printing onto 6x card blanks each.
- Oil-based inks will be used (note: these take about a week to dry once you take your print home)
- All printing materials will be provided
What to Bring:
- Your own apron
- Clothes you don’t mind getting inky - oil-based ink can stain
- Any tools you’d like to use (optional)
