Rob Rouse: Funny Bones, Pocklington Arts Centre

The UK Comedy Awards names Rob Rouse “Comics’ Comic - Best Act - of the Year” as he brings his new tour show to Pocklington. Rob Rouse — recently crowned Comics’ Comic - Best Act - of the Year 2025 by The UK Comedy Awards and also voted Best Act at the 2025 Yorkshire Comedy Awards — brings his brand-new stand-up show Funny Bones to Pocklington Arts Centre on Thursday 12 March.
A star of BBC’s Upstart Crow, 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Friday Night Project and Dave’s One Night Stand and countless other TV and Radio appearances, Rouse is one of the UK comedy circuit’s most respected and consistently hilarious performers. The ‘Comics’ Comic’ award, voted for by fellow comedians, recognises his standing as a true comic’s comic after more than 25 years at the top of his game.
Rob first rose to prominence after winning Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998. Since then, he has built a reputation for his joyous silliness, infectious energy and masterful storytelling — earning the description “a man with genuinely funny bones” (The Sunday Times). He’s toured all over the world from Australia to Just for Laughs Festival Montreal, he’s done 3 UK Solo tours and 12 critically acclaimed Edinburgh Festival shows and performed in 2 sold out West End runs of ‘Upstart Crow The Play’, but come and see him do what he does best, live stand-up.
Rob’s latest live show Funny Bones is a relentlessly funny, high-spirited evening packed with brilliantly spun tall tales, pitch-perfect characters, hilariously daft flights of fancy and absolutely stuffed to the gunnels with jokes. It’s a pure celebration of comedy and being alive! Rob’s hell-bent on making you belly laugh throughout, so much so, you may well leave the show slightly dafter than when you came in!
The tour marks Rob’s return to solo touring, following recent support slots with Nina Conti, Kerry Godliman, Rory Bremner and Marcus Brigstocke.
He is widely praised by fellow comedians and critics alike:
“One of my favourite comics. A very silly and funny man.” — Greg Davies “Rob Rouse is a joy machine, a natural clown.” — Kerry Godliman “Pure, joyful, hilarious stand-up… one of the best there is.” — Marcus Brigstocke
★★★★★ “Comedy guaranteed to lighten even the darkest of moods.” — Edinburgh Evening News ★★★★★ “Bursting with originality, energy and enthusiasm.” — The List
