Carlton Towers has a series of tours planned this summer around its Walled Garden Vineyard, one of Yorkshire’s prettiest vineyards framed by old English rose varieties, heritage fruit trees and Victorian style herbs.

Originally built in the 18th century to supply fruit and vegetables for the Fitzalan Howard family, the Walled Garden Vineyard has gone through many guises including supplying produce for the war effort during two World Wars.

Today the vines of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are blended to produce delicious sparkling wine including the current limited release Carlton Towers Brut Rose Sparkling Wine.

Costing £25 per person, the tour covers how the Vineyard was started, plus the history and process of harvesting and includes a cream tea, a glass of fizz and cup of tea. Tours take place on May 4, June 15, July 13, August 3, and September 14.

Visitors to the stately home can also get their own taste of this lovely venue by booking afternoon tea in The Stables Tearoom. The tea, costing £25 per person, includes delicious sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea, prepared by the in-house team of chefs. Afternoon tea can be booked on June 21, July 6, August 17 and September 13.
