Middletons Hotel

Set inside York City Walls, Middletons Hotel – part of Daniel Thwaites - is a four-star, award-winning hotel which boasts historic roots, unrivalled architecture and 56 individually designed bedrooms across six Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings, providing a peaceful haven for a truly unique city break.

A Brief History

Prior to being acquired by Daniel Thwaites in 2017, Middletons Hotel was run by the Clarke family for over 40 years, whose legacy is still visible to this day. Over the years, Middletons Hotel has had significant investment, including a refurbishment of its Cromwell building and Cottage rooms in 2019, followed by another six-figure renovation in 2022 which included upgrades to The Sawmill restaurant, bar area and conservatory. The refurbishment of the Lady Anne building is Middletons Hotel’s most recent 2023 project, as the hotel continues to focus on upgrading its guest offering, while conserving the history of the property.
