If your family loves learning through play then DIG is made for you.
At DIG your children can:
- Dig for artefacts in our specially designed dig pits
- Explore York’s history layer by layer
- Discover what archaeologists found beneath the city streets.
Whether it’s your first time digging or you’re already into archaeology, there’s something here for everyone.
Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon School Exhibition
To celebrate the release of the next book, Flight of the Flamestrike, we have extended the exhibition to include another area of archaeology: conservation.
Your little explorers will be able to put on their lab coat and safety goggles and join Hiccup and the gang to investigate X-rays, how harmful salts are removed from precious items found in the sea and peer into microscopes looking for sea life and maybe evidence that dragons really did exist!
With plenty of information to help them along the way, as well as activities you can try at home, we think your family will love their trip to DIG more than ever.

We know your children are off school but we bet they’d love to be enrolled in Dragon School!
Throughout the summer holidays your family can take part in Survival School, where your kids will learn essential skills needed to survive in the Barbaric Archipelago, including how to build a shelter, light a fire, and keep warm in the wild. Or perhaps Warrior School is more their thing, where they’ll learn about Viking weapons and armour before putting their skills to the test in a series of fun combat challenges using foam swords and shield.
Hosted by experts from Sylvankin, sessions run every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the holidays and come with a sweet treat at the end.
Make a play date!
We recommend booking in advance during school holidays to avoid disappointment. Book directly at digyork.co.uk - it’s that easy.
